Hey,

I am getting slight knocking noise in my 2004 545i steering column when I steer, standing or moving. I got almost 60,000 miles, so no warranty here. Does anyone know what it is?
Thanks ahead.

The shaft within the steering column. Had mine replaced after a long series of service visits and numerous other suspension parts. The issue was resolved.

I had the same problem a couple of months ago and the dealership had to replace the whole steering column. It's good it was done under warranty. I didn't pay anything for it.

The knocking is very light and felt when steered left, but not always. Will it get worst?

I don't know if it will get worse. But one thing I will tell you though is that you will become more conscious of it. I didn't realize my knocking at first. I could hear it and I thought it was some stuff rolling around in my trunk. Once I found out it was my steering, the knocking seemed to get louder and louder by the day just cuz I was more aware of it.
