Default knocking sound when shaking wheel left to right

I just replaced the lower control arm on my car due to a knocking sound when braking. After replacing the control arm, the knocking sound when braking is gone, but there is play in the wheel when I grab it at the 3 'clock position of the wheel and move it towards the front of the car it makes the sound. No sound when I grab the 9 'clock position of the wheel and move it towards the back of the car . The sound seems to be coming from the control arm that I just replaced.

I think I figured out the issue. I found that the bolt for control arm was not tightened all the way down. I tightened it down some more and now there is no play when i move the wheel.
