Hi folks, has anyone ever experienced a rattle/banging noise which comes from what seems to be where the dashboard meets the windscreen? I thought at first it was the stabalizer links but they are ok. Also changed the stabalizer bar bushes. Had all the suspension checked and even had new shock absorbers fitted. I still have this annoying banging noise coming from the front. Has anyone had a similar problem and had it fixed?
Thanks

Some very similar happened to mine and two other 530Xi of the same age in my company's fleet. It was a popping kind of noise from the front right corner near the strut tower. The first time I brought it into BMW they replaced two front traction strut arms under warranty because the bushings are worn, but that did not fix the problem. When I brought it back a second time they replaced an upper strut mount torsion bar bracket which, in their words, was "weaken and shifting under load", and the noise didn't come back. This part number for this bracket is 51-61-7-010-593. Apparently they had to remove the micorfilters and housing, wiper arms and the lower windshield cover to get to it.
