My Ride: SOLD...Jet Black 2008 550i M Sport with SAT, black interior. RPI exhaust and air scoop, 35% huper optik tint all around, CF roundels, flat black kidneys, Springfield Armory XD-40 jet black in glove box, charcoal filter removed.
So, thought I'd post something. Is anyone else trying to "preserve" their E60 by NOT driving it as often as possible? I mean, I drive it and I absolutely LOVE it more every time, but I also notice something else adding to the slow decay every time I take it out. Be it a new stone chip, a new wrinkly in the leather of the seat, more cappuccino spilled all over the passenger seat and console due to the horrible cup holders, a spot on the steering wheel, dirty wheels, etc etc.
I bought my 550i M sport almost a year ago to the day. It had 12,500 miles on it. It has 25,500 on it today. I have no idea how I got that many miles on it as I try to NOT drive it as often as possible. I fight the urge but give in and take it on average two days a week. Of course it sits inside the garage if its raining, snowing, or otherwise not pristine outside.
But even with all that down time, I still notice the stone chips in the front, the wear and tear on the inside, and the mileage keeps climbing.
I know I'm not the only one like this. Who else is in the same boat?
Oh, and I am constantly washing the car and the wheels, inside and out. Its weird, I love the car and driving it, but I'm hesitant to take it most of the time because I'm adverse to adding to the slow decline that will inevitably come to the end of this great human/machine relationship.
Yeah, I'm bored.
Out.

dude your title relates nothing to your post.
it actually is really dead in this forum in general this last while.
As for your car-it took me about 3 years of obsessingly driving a lot and enjoying it to finally have that burn out in me and I no longer take my car for joy rides-purely for pleasure. I am down to using it to get where I want to go and do not have much enjoyment out of it. So it happens over time. I have taken ridiculously good care of my car for 3 years. Polished with portal cable yearly--full 3 stage polish. Wax monthly, steam clean interior often, clean leather interior/seats/steering wheel with a soft toothbrush, polished and buffed the interior wood paneling to new-condition again, use wax on the interior wood pieces, clean wheels and tires often...
Losing my motivation though and now sits dirty for much longer--just happens I guess which is ok as I have more time for other things. Every time I clean it up it revives momemntarily but for the most part its now just another car to get me from point A to B.. oh well
