My Ride: 2008 535xiT (E61)
Black Sapphire / Black Leather / bamboo.
Steptronic, Full Aero Kit, 35% Tints. 18" Run Flats.
All the goodies short of Active Cruise, Comfort Access and the safty options.
2002 BMW R1150R. Red, Corbin, PIAAs, Fiamm,
My transmission has started to kick from a standstill.
Its feels so much like I am getting rear ended that I'v gotten out of the car once to see what happened, the guy behind me looked at me like I was nuts.
I had 3 people in the car who also assumed we were rear ended.
From a full stop at an intersection, in normal mode, pressing the gas (not jamming on it at all) I get a kick from the transmission that feels like being rear ended at 2 to 3MPH.
The car has only 550 miles on it but I've been aggressive so I'm thinking I may need to reset my transmission.
Its not every time, maybe 1 out of 8 but getting more frequent.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks much.

What? BMW still havent figured this out??? Geez!
It's widely known as the transmission slam here... usually is fixed with the latest software update but given yours is a 2008 how much "later" can the software get??
I had the tranny slam but when i upgraded to V16 it cured it... but now we're on like v28...

Your car has 550 miles on it? Coincidence? Maybe it's the car's way of kicking you in the ass for not getting a 550!

I was getting this too last month
try these 2 things
1. change the gearbox oil.
2. reset the gearbox computer.
for 2. do this when you get into your car.
1. turn the key 2 time but not starting the engine.
2. put your right to the ground like flooring it on the gas peddle for 25 to 30 sec.
3. then let og of the foot and switch off the car.
4. restart the engine and there you your gearbox will be smoother.

Sheesh! Serves you right for not getting a proper (manual) transmission!

5. And you do the hokie-pokie, and you shake it all around. That's what it's all about!
