why do we go off about how hard it is to maintain black cars. I think there are tons of threads about it.

The question was,..is black really a boring color for cars nowadays? Nope.. white would be in america. Numero uno colour over there. Common as muck as some may say. That said, if I do get a sporty car, I am going white. There is something about the white cars pictured here on this forum. Too !!!

cheers

Easy solution then. Get a bi*ch to keep it looking good for you

BMW offers a number of "black" cars which change colour, e.g. I have Carbon Black (for the 3rd time ) which changes to a deeeeep blue under sun light. There are a whole load of Individual "black colours" to choise from, including more blues, reds and greens. Thats certainly one good way of getting the best of both worlds... a Black car which looks great, but a hint of another colour to "stop it being boring".

Black is simply a great timeless classic, whereas other colours come in and out of fashion. Its a safe choice for re-sale value and avoiding your pride and joy becoming "undesireable" or "unfashionable" as trends change. I think you can ask the question again in 10 years and it will still be the same answer!

This is how you start a fight...

"I hate alpine white cars. BMW should be ashamed to even put that color on an E60. Anyone who drives one is obviously dumb and has poor taste and/or is blind"

...I dont actually feel that way, but THAT is how you get it going in here!

Where are these "most places" ?

I would have phrased this question as "Nowhere that I can think of, are the cars that protect VIPs are black 5ers. Why don't they ever use 5ers.".

Seriously, it never happens. The 5er simply doesn't have enough rear legroom to be a VIP transporter. The only BMW that ever gets that job is the 7er or perhaps an X5. This VIP job is almost always going to Mercedes E class, Mercedes S class, LWB Jags, LWB 7ers, Range Rovers, or one of the many flavours of blacked-out minivans/people carriers. But never ever a 5er.
For the BMW Championship (Nationwide Tour Golf) here in Greenville, SC this year the VIP courtesy cars that they haul all the celebs and such around in were mostly 5ers and X5 or X6.

nope!.. all my cars are black too.. My SUV looks like a limo!

I love black cars... but I hate washing them twice a week!
Well the good news (being sarcastic) for you and all your fellow CA mates on here is that soon you aren't going to have to worry about it. Since, in the ultimate display of nanny state government control CA is no longer going to allow black cars to be sold. Now you can look forward to your muddy colored black rides.

Obviously you guys that live out there would know more than we would, but I heard about this a few months ago. Did it get any traction out there? Does it look like this might happen?

i've said this 100 times. you could paint a turd black and it would look good. reference the black, tinted-windowed prius i saw on the way in this morning.

once you go black, you never go back.
