why do we go off about how hard it is to maintain black cars. I think there are tons of threads about it.
The question was,..is black really a boring color for cars nowadays?
Nope.. white would be in america. Numero uno colour over there. Common as muck as some may say. 
That said, if I do get a sporty car, I am going white. There is something about the white cars pictured here on this forum. Too

BMW offers a number of "black" cars which change colour, e.g. I have Carbon Black (for the 3rd time ) which changes to a deeeeep blue under sun light. There are a whole load of Individual "black colours" to choise from, including more blues, reds and greens. Thats certainly one good way of getting the best of both worlds... a Black car which looks great, but a hint of another colour to "stop it being boring".
Black is simply a great timeless classic, whereas other colours come in and out of fashion. Its a safe choice for re-sale value and avoiding your pride and joy becoming "undesireable" or "unfashionable" as trends change. I think you can ask the question again in 10 years and it will still be the same answer!
