What is so hard about cleaning a black car? I only clean my cars once a month, without soap!!! I use water only and it already looks good.

In most places, cars that protect VIPs are black 5ers.

I think the black makes the car look sporty. In BMW's case, there are slight variants, like the Laguna Seca blue, that can make the car give a sporty vibe, but really, a black car that sounds menacing gives it a feeling of a monster, whereas a beige car might not give off quite the same vibe.

when i first started looking (not shopping) i found one of those metallic blue M5s on ebay in the mid 40s. i was convinced that was my car/color. i was just getting out of the military and had just gotten my offer letter from my new job, so i was thinking of what i was gonna get a few months down the road. i moved to tampa, and within a month i started having troubles with my maxima, which forced me into a quick decision lease. I knew that the M5 was out of the question at that point, besides, that blue was rare. i didnt have a lot of capital as a down payment, so i knew i was going to have to use only my trade in and look for a sweet deal on the lot 08 leftover. At that point, i went to my "all-around" fav color, BLACK. when i bought a brand new truck in texas, i chose black, even though they had EVERY color on the lot. My 93 mustang was BLACK which i searched all over for.
i guess is what i am saying is, unless i am buying a unique car, like AWG mentioned, which i consider the M5 to be, black is my color. i like washing/polishing/detailing anyway. black is no problem for me. Although the Alpine White M3 has grown on me, BLACK is the way to go in my opinion. when i was growing up, i remember a lot of old people having white cars.
oh, my co-worker has a new white c350 sport. it is sweet too. maybe white is growing on me because i am... getting older

Bright red is super rare on E60's here in the UK, black is common as muck here, might go for a bright red or blue one next time I think

I think black is getting way too common over here in UK. That said White is the "IN" colour at the moment.
You may find this article interesting. Black is not the top car colour. [Linky]
"The 2008 DuPont Automotive Color Popularity Report says white is the top vehicle color choice in North America for the second straight year..."
"Black and silver with effects also turned in a strong performance globally. The term ?effects? refers to special pigments that lend a pearl or iridescent appearance to coatings."
Yummy!! Thats why I like my black/dark blue paint on the 535d.
cheers

My car is black on black and I absolutely love it, nothing looks better when it is all washed up and shining. However, my next car will NOT be black

Black is a great color for any car, even makes a corrolla look halfway decent. That said, it is also a bi*ch to keep looking good.
