The wood is not fake i think.

I know that Jaguar don't use fake wood, so why would bmw use fake? If its fake you see it really hard.

Ruthenium is a metal. But with regard to the BMW parts it is plastic with a metalic paint.
The same cud be said about BMW wood trim.I guess it is also fake.

That's correct.
It's Ruthenium look, and it's wood look.

Just a general observation: the fact that nobody on this topic knows if its fake wood of real wood proves that it is well made. Otherwise everybody would know for sure its fake

On the contarary I was saying from the very beginning it is a CHEAP (fake) wood from a
second class shop. It is a shame for e60.

When I changed the trim on my E39 I could see it was real woods, as you could see a very small strip of it on the edges of the trim

My E60 doesnt have wood trim, maybe someone with it should remove one piece of trim and check

I would be outrageously disappointed if the wood trims are fake!!!

My last Audi A6 had, and it does say so in the brochure, real wood. I have mocked and laughed at other cars with "Imprinted wood panel" I'd be sticking it to myself if BMW had fake wood.

Please tell me it isn't so :'(

Don't remember where, but do believe I have read that the wood is genuine. I am sure that it is a very thin veneer glued to a base.

I disagree. I like the Poplar wood; I think it looks great.

It is standard practice to use a "veneer", which is a very thin strip of wood, but is by all means real wood. I would be very surprised if BMW did not use real wood.

BTW, "cheap" and "fake" are two distinctly different things. If you do not like the wood, and think it looks "cheap", that is not the same as asserting that it is "fake", which means it is not real wood. BMW says this is wood in all of their literature; do you believe they are not being truthful?

Ok ok ok...

Yes, it's real wood. It's very thin, but it's real wood.
