I have the jerking issue with my 2007 550i less then 30K miles.
At first, I took it to Crevier BMW in Santa Ana to fix the latest recall.
They kept to the for 2 days.
They said nothing was wrong and the jerk was normal.
Then I took the car to Irvine BMW.
They kept the car for a day and gave me Mazda6 as a loaner.
They came back and said nothing was wrong again.
I had even shown them the TSB (SI-B24-03-09).
They didn't even care to see it.
Then I took it to Sterling BMW in New Port Beach.
I had show them the TBS and requested for the software update.
They kept the car for 2 days and gave me a rental car as a loaner.
Then they called me and told me to drop off the rental to replace with a 328 loaner.
They said after the software had updated, the issue was not fixed.
So after talking to BMW (may be BMW NA), they decided to replace the transmission.
They did not mention about the Mechatronics unit, Sealing sleeve nor the oil level.
I don't have the details on how this decision was make. I will check on Monday.
The new/rebuilt transmission will be here on Monday...

Persistence pays off in the end. I'm glad Sterling took care of the issue.

So Sterling has good service? Might have to consider them... Irvine BMW pissed me off last time...

You are very lucky that you have this problem when the vihecle is still under warranty. It is very unusual that BMW authorizes the transmission replacement since there was not fault code. My car started having this "jerking" transmission problem a couple of months ago (my warranty expired last Oct). I have to drive with this "hard shift" transmission until the tranny dies.

You are very lucky indeed, and you found a great dealer. Many of us have fought with BMW about tranny jerking , me included, since we picked up our new car . To this date, no result, BMW did all of their test and came back and said that all 550 with auto tranny jerk when coming to a stop, what a bunch of crap. I wish I lived closer to your dealer. Now when i come to a stop, I flip the paddle shifter up once to avoid the jerk. It really sucks for us guys that have this problem but can't get it fixed. Again, congrats on getting your problem fixed.

Thanks everyone. I am holping the fix will go well and the jerking will go away once and for all. Even BMW is going to replace the transmission, I am worry about how good the new/rebuilt transmission will be and what other problems will come next. On the bright side, I still have 2 years of CPO warranty.

This is my first time to bring car to Sterling. So far the impression is still on the plus side.
BTW, always find the fix or suggestion of the fix for your issue(s) on the internet before taking you car to any dealers...
