Anyone have problems with the car jerking slightly. It's more noticable on low rpm's especially when the engine is cold. But even driving on the highway at a steady speed I can feel it jerking ever so slightly.

I had the car in for some work and the CSA said it would be fixed with a software upgrade, well it wasn't!

Thanks

My Ride: '04 545iS 6 spd, bought new via eBay, 11/05; Blk/Gry, Cold, L7, PDC, BMW Rear seatcover for pets. First "Bumwa" was a new 1971 2002. High performance 5s since 1987. Beamer motorcycles too, currently on an 07 BMW K1200 GT; also a Moto Guzzi 1000 SP III.

More burping when on choke, than jerking. But yes, there is hesitation, but only for a few minutes and only when you are in too high a gear (2 instead of 1 such as when taking a right on red while still cold, etc) This engine does not have the low down torque of my previous 5s; instead it winds much higher and you have to row more.

Cheers,

I wonder if this has anything to do with the CDV which causes jerkiness during shifting.

I have this problem. It can be pretty bad when the engine is cold up to semi-warm. When I drive along at constant speed (lets say 1,500 - 2,000 rpm), the car jerks and hesitates. It goes away when the engin is warm (after 5-10 min or so).

Sounds like you all need to do the 25 second tranny reset and get a sprint booster.

I have the same problem on a cold engine. It isn't that noticeable when I start an already warm engine.

This is referring to a manual - my '05 545 with manual does the same thing, pretty annoying. I took it to the dealer who told me it's normal for this engine, something to do with the valvetronic. Not sure I buy that, though. Anybody have this problem resolved? TIA!

I mentioned it to my dealer last week and they admitted the car does it but also that it's normal, especially in the winter months. has something to do with the ethenol in the gas. It's totally normal.....although I do find it odd for a $65k car. just have to deal with it (summer soon).
