[quote name='Jimbo' date='Oct 23 2004, 06:23 PM']You might ask BMW to make a car payment for you if you have a loan. I've heard of this being done before.

I've heard of that too. It's clearly not anything you did and it seems to clearly be BMW's fault here.

I always punish the loaners I get from my dealer.. They get punished for the fact that I cannot drive my own car.. So driving em hard and aggresive..

That's the reason why I never buy a Demo car because I know others do that too..

first time i got another e60 as loaner and helped my dealer to finish the break in period . of course i didn't follow the manual, under certain rpm and mph . but the second time my service advisor told me there loaner just got a "fender bender". i got a enterprise rental instead, a freaking cavalier ! only thing automatic for that car is the transmission. windows, side mirrors, and everything else are manual !

The story is simple. The part is on backorder and no news on replacement.

gdavis, give the contact info for your man. I'll have my service rep contact him Monday. Thanks.

i'm not trying to discourage you but my sales advisor told me the same thing for over two months about my parts before. and i finally found out he didn't even order my parts ! also my car was sitting in the shop for 11 days but they didn't do anything at all. i finally called my service advisor who just came back from vacation that day and he told me they simply forgot to call me to pick up the car . so i think a phone call on monday won't hurt .

I have been by the dealership and seen my car sitting under the shed with the CAS printout on the dash with all of the faults listed. Also, I have talked with the parts manager who knows the CAS unit is on order plus three more at the same dealership in the same state of wait. I will be using the information that gdavis sent me tomorrow. Thanks.

JDN Maybe you should ask the dealer if its ok to take the loaner car across the states for say a 4000 mile round trip they might rather take a CAS out of a new car then have you put that many miles on a loaner

Good idea, roos. Been there and done that. Spent a week touring Colorado and NM. Dallas to Denver to Durango to Los Cruces through White Sands, on to Carlsbad and back to Dallas. Cruised around sight seeing and sometimes lost wo NAV lady to keep me stratight. The manager planned to take a CAS unit out of a 545, but two problems: No 545 on his lot and CAS has to be tailored to my VIN and my options. So, we'll see what we can come up with tomorrow. <_<

The word this morning is that there are 165 CAS units on back order in Germany, and I am number 50 on the list. This dealership has four vehicles mothballed like mine. I motivated them by telling them that their X3 3.0 was looking at another cruise from Texas through Florida in the near future.

They called the service advisor that got gdavis running in three days which precipitated a series of calls. When I left, they appeared to have found a unit somewhere and were trying to get it released. They are to get in touch with me when resolved.

The fact that I have NAV has complicated the process of ripping one out of a new car (rarely ordered with NAV) and putting in my car. As far as the word from Germany, it appears that there is no date for the order to be shipped.

I reminded them that the CAS unit was operating, even if it did have a few blips, when I brought it in. Their say that during the update, my CAS unit just shut down.

This problem is costing your dealer a small fortune just in depreciation on the X3 alone!

We talked about that. He has four of his loaners tied up with the CAS unit problem. Probably has had to introduce additional pieces of his inventory to loaner servcie. It's a busy delership.
