Hey guys. A newbie to the forum, but not a newbie to BMW's! Just picked up a 535d M Sport. It's a 54 plate 2005 Model in Carbon Black. It has black Dakota Leather and the usual BMW E60 refinements. It also has the Rear Spoiler. It is a very very smooth vehicle as you'd expect a fiver to be. It doesn't feel like a diesel except when you start it. Soon as you move, it's like a silent predator waiting to pounce. This car will more then likely get anyone into trouble. I have to have a constant look down at the speedo to check what speed I'm doing. At one point it felt like I was doing 20mph but my speed proved I was thinking 30mph to slow!! No wonder other Fivers have the heads up display fitted!! The car is a pure animal. It's the 274bhp Edition but theres around a 200% chance to get it remapped soon. Inside, its nice and not to big as I first feared. Theres room for 5 full size passengers with ease. The I-drive is a doddle to use. Only downside is that there is no TV or Xenons. Retrofit of Xenons is a big ballache but I like pissing around

Well..the first mod was Genuine REAR Led lights. Yes Genuine. Make a definate improvement to the rear of the Vehicle. They were purchased off Bruce Miranda off this site. My brother who is on the forum already as Amar90, bought them for me as a present! Cheers Bro! and Thanks to Bruce for this plug and play tool! Top bloke.

I then spent 8 hours, yes 8 hours cleaning the car. It was clayed Using Meguries Quick Clay, Rinsed. Then Applied 3M Polish and Then finished with Poorboys Natty Blue Paste Wax! The cars paintwork feels like Glass!

After getting a nice job, I had a little more extra cash on some mods! One thing that cheesed me off was the fact that for such a big car like the five, it didn't come with XENON headlamps! So I sourced some Xenon units from eBay for a steal of a price. I then aquired some HID bulbs & Ballasts off eBay. It's an OEM LOOK for a fraction of a proper retrofit. I had to use a CANBUS Canceller to stop the OBC erorrs and flickering and stuttering. I now have OEM LIGHTS for a fraction of the price! It was either this OR a proper BMW Retrofit at around ?2k or H7 Bulbs in my existing halogen headlights!

Work ok..needed some adjusting but do the job just as well..

NEXT STEP....always thought the 18" Rims were nice...but not nice enough...After a sh!t weekend on eBay and losing 2 other auctions for the same wheels at over ?900 a shot, I came across a set for ?800...BRAND NEW, fully balanced, GENUINE and 8mm tyres. STYLE 172's. Improve the car so much more!! The ride is alot better as the car previously drove on Runflats...handling..is well OK as long as you don't push it too much..

The next mod FOR NOW is the chrome kidney grille's. Genuines ones at that too! Was just about to order some from the dealer at ?54+VAT EACH!! when I came across a set on good ol' eBay for ?50! Within 10 minutes of popping through the post box, me and my brother were outside taking the old ones off!

The car looks 10x better then around 2 months ago..It's amazing how the OEM Mods have made a difference to the whole look of a car. The car is a 2005 model and yet looks as good as those new LCI Fully Loaded ones! +! The car is averaging around 28mpg now after a service with a mix of good old motorway driving and some spirited driving. Can't complain. After driving the car day in day out for 8 weeks now, I've adjusted to the power nicely. Kind of Know the cars strength and weakness now. Drivers are a lot less reluctant to try anything fancy. Wonder why...

FINALLY...MY Something M5..the M5 Trunk Finisher painted and delivered from M-Style!

Which auction did you get your wheels from? I'm on the look out for a new set of wheels too in 19".

P.S. Don't bother with the OEM TV - its not worth the money. Instead if you are really keen on having any video in the car consider the ACM or simply fit an aftermarket with some screens.

Awesome entry to the forum Jag - love the photo story.

Your car and mine were twins before you started tweaking. I can't believe people buy 5ers without ordering Xenon lamps, the halogens are so weak.

Had mine since March this year, swapped the tyres, added HIDs and some blue carbon badges, looking for some projector lenses to put the HID's in. All the rest of the lighting will have to wait for more cash!

Enjoy.

Welcome on board and a great intro, thanks for taking the time to write that up

Great mods -- subtle, but make all the difference. Very slick and up to date looking ride. Enjoy!

Thanks for all the comments guys..she is just such an amazing machine! Every ride begins and ends with a smile!

@ Bruce Miranda - I got them off an auction around 4 weeks ago. They're cropping up on eBay all the time so just be quick! Thanks for the cables buddy!! I may need your assistance when it comes to fitting amplifiers thought

@ Stiker - A Carbon Copy of mine almost? Someone also fitted some LCI headlights to the pre-LCI cars with a bit of butchering of the wiring! I was looking into it but the price I got these units for I just couldn't let it past me by!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I think I'll like it here!

Cheers, Jag.

I can tell you really love the car You did a great job with all those OEM mods! No wonder other drivers respect the 5-er the way it looks now! Let us know how does it go with the remapping! I'm curious to hear.
Actually I'm going to sell my current 05 535d and exchange it for another - 535d Touring, M-Sport, Carbon Black and want to do the remap as I got used to 272hp - I'm not saying it isn't enough nor it doesn't drive like a raging bull but overtaking can be always faster
I can buy a remap box here for about ?1000GBP or was thinking about www.tuningbox.com - the price is around 500EUR. We don't have DMS here at all.
