That does seem awfully high, I have to say. But the 3-series x-drive had the same problem. I don't know why, but Audi's don't have that problem. Unless you take the Audi Allroad, which you can "pump-up".

My Ride: 2006 530i - Sport - 6spd - Orient Blue with Auburn/Anthracite
The technical specs in the 2006 brochure indicate that the car should be 57.8" (or 146.8cm) high from the crown of the roof to the ground - maybe you could make a measurement?
