Can someone please describe to me or better still post a picture of the cable required to get an IPOD to work properly on the new IPOD 6FL interface.

My dealer (UK) does not seem to know anything about it and I would like to be able to persuade him that it is different than the cable supplied with the car.

Thanks

Jeremy

I believe they are ?38, my dealer threw it in when I took delivery of my wife's e92 last week along with a big bunch of flowers, a case of wine and 8% discount....they are still clearly making lots of money on the coupes with this discount, It will be interesting to see how long before they are offerring 12%+ as with other models???

If you want a cheaper solution then look at this...

http://www.sendstation.com/us/products/poc...ineout-usb.html

You will need a 3.5mm to 3.5mm jack lead plus the USB lead which comes with the car.

You dont know how lucky you are. In the UK we have to pay for the damn thing. thats if the dealer actually has them. Mine are having trouble getting hold of one.

Does anyone have a photo of the IPOD installed with 6FL cable in a 2008 5-series that they could post?

This is a very useful topic (to me).

Although I must say that BMW should take there head out of there bottom and supply an ipod cable as standard !

The 6FL is a must have great feature, it rocks, but getting it hooked to an ipod is dreadful.

- Most dealers do not have a clue
- Cable price of ?38 is a joke never mind the delay and having to trail back and forth to the dealer very tiresome.

aaarghhhhhh having to resort to these great forums is not really good enough when we're buying a premium auto ....
<frustration>

BMW should throw in a cable, bulk price must be pennies to BMW ! and in the near future I think this option will become standard.

After all that the USB memory stick option is actually IMHO better than wrestling with an ipod in the cramped hard to get at armrest connections !

Why well if you buy a 4gb stick ~?25 you leave it in the car more or less permanent and don't tie up the ipod or leave it ready to be nicked !
Works out cheaper than the cable ! and probably works faster.

Come on everyone give them (dealers/BMW) a hard time on this one !

btw. I still do not have a cable I am happy with !

I found this topic useful so I thought I would add the following information. I couldn't get hold of a BMW cable through my local (UK) dealers so I tried the "sendstation" option mentioned above. Unfortunately that didn't work as the ipod menus were still not being displayed properly on the radio display.

I finally managed to track down a supply of BMW cables (part number 61120440812) at:

http://www.bmwgenuineparts.co.uk/index.php...products_id=477

It was delivered the next day and now the ipod menus are displayed perfectly. A ridiculously expensive cable (?39.95 + postage) but worth it in the long run because it works.
