My iPod touch will not charge when I have it connected via the iPod option to my 08 LCI 550. Apple Tech Suppot says that it is probably because it, like the iPhone, draws substantially more power than the normal iPods. My iPod Nano works fine.
Questions
1. The power requirements of this is the same as the iPhone. Does the iPhone charge in the 5 er?
2. Has anyone else experienced this with an iPod touch?

On another forum, I read a post that the iPhone and the iPod touch will not charge when connected to the car. The poster understood that BMW was bringing out a more robust cable to address the issue.

There was an article in the flyer that comes with the monthly bill from BMW Finance that mentioned the total compatibility of the Iphone with the E 60 Ipod adaptor and the E 60 Bluetooth and Usb port options. I am surprised that the IPhone would work but the ITouch wouldn't.
Im waiting on the next version of the Iphone with 3G capabilities and more memory with a thinner case. I have to believe this phone like the ipods are gonna see continual improvement. With the full screen internet capability of the current Iphone its sad that it doesn't work with 3G.

The iPhone and iPod touch share the same architecture and same power requirements according to Apple technical support. They are both power hogs and both do not charge in the car with the present cable.

No, I meant early adopter. A marketing term (at least I learned the term in marketing calss) for consumers who buy the first or early versions of products before they are proven or have all the bugs worked out. A perfect example was my purchase of my 545 in Dec 2003, well before many of the bugs were worked out.
