Hi all,

My new E60 is great, but for the past three days the brakes have been squeaking when I pull up to stop. It's not every time, maybe 20-30% of the time. I thought it was a bit of grit/dust, so try some heavy forward and reverse braking to shift it, but it's still there. Is this because the car is new ... will they sort themselves out ... or should i get to the dealer asap ??

The dealer is going to tell you because you have new brakes, but this is a problem that 70% of the 5 series had pre-LCI. I am not sure if bmw tackled the problem on the lci models, but i would say, get used it to...

Perhaps this might help since your car is still new. This is a set of instructions by Brembo/Dinan to break in new pads/rotors. Scroll to page 3. Hope this helps ... BRAKE PADS

Thanks for the info Roleez. My car arrives in a couple days and I may use this if I experience the same squeaks as Russ.

The car might be new but...

Break them in? Hey Russ, remind us what was your running in procedure?

See what the dealer says, but if he asks, tell him you followed the running procedure in the manual to the letter!

Regards,

Same problem here. Car is pre-LCI (2006).

Will try the set of instructions Roleez posted.

Take care & keep us informed on the squeaks !

I had squeaking brakes in my new 550i. I did a light bedding in procedure. A few moderately hard stops from 60-20 seemed to cure the squeaks. Plus that got rid of some of the grabbiness.
I had the same issue with a new X3 at times.
