There appears to be no confirmation that it is suitable for a 2004 model.

I believe u have a CD changer in ur glove box. if so, then it will work for sure but u have to have ur car updated at the dealer to be able to play music

thanks guys I was on bavauto and they have the one in the link posted but they have a different one that comes up with the MY2004 (ending in 429 instead of 425 like the link) selected so I thought I needed that but dont know because like tooltec said real OEM doesnt recognize the part number, but that realoem link just confused me even more and BTW i do not have a 6cd changer in the glove box.

When in doubt you can always call up your local BMW dealer and they can give you the exact part number for your car when you give them your VIN. They can also tell you exactly what you need to make it work for your specific car. They will run your VIN to see all of the options that was installed on your car and will let you know if your car has or has not been pre wired for the iPod retro fit. Just a thought. Most people don't like dealing with the dealers but they have saved me from buying the wrong thing many times!!

I agree but I always ask two BMW dealers the same questions!
