ipod artist browsing through usb/ipod adapter

i searched this topic but didnt find anything that addressed my issue...
i compared the speed of browing through artists on my ipod in my e60 and my wife's e70. mine experiences delays, where it shows numbers (for a second or two before showing the artists) instead of artists. my wife's blazes through the names. is this a known issue that has been addressed or is something wrong with my car?
fwiw, i also noticed that the original 2009 535 i test drove was much faster browsing as well...
