M6 Style looks weird on E60 to me. I think M6 style is more for the E90s.
Now I am thinking about VMR VB3 or 166.
Obviously, Ed. You haven't seen them in person. Here is a shot of my car.

That's a first! Hahahahaha!

And just take a look at this E60 with 167's. This doesn't look good to you?

Attachment 84307

The 166's came stock on my car and I'm not a huge fan at all of these wheels, as they look so bland. I had to powdercoat my 166's to make them tolerable, since I use them for winter now. I think (and I think many others feel the same way on this forum) that the 167's are better suited for the E60, rather than the E63. Funny how that works. To make this even more complicated, I was the first E60 member on this forum/site to have the VB3's on my first E60, before the M. I included a picture below of my old car with these wheels. I'm a huge fan of these wheels. If I were you, I'd either do the VB3's or the 167's. Don't do the 166's.

do you have pictures of your car with the powdercoated 166's? i would like to see that.

Did it have sport / non sport suspension at that time?
What size were your Vb3?

They are looking GOOD!!!!!!!!!
Great question. I'll make it even more complicated for you, since you asked...

My old E60 was a 2007 530xi Sport. HOWEVER, even though it had the Sport Package, the XI did NOT (repeat did NOT) come with the Sport suspension found on the standard, RWD E60's. Therefore, it actually sat higher and more like a non-sport E60. HOWEVER, I couldn't deal with the "wheel gap" so I lowered the car with H&R Springs that were specifically made for the E60 XI only. It lowered the car to the picture you are seeing above. Was it lower than a standard 530i Sport with the standard, stock, "Sport" suspension? I'm not sure of that, but it was definitely close.

That all being said, it doesn't really matter what wheel you choose at this point since you don't have the Sport Package. Your car will have a "wheel gap" no matter what wheels you go with (Design, Size, etc.). The key for you, after you get wheels, will be to lower it. You don't have to do Race, but you will at least want a set of Sport Springs/Struts or Coilovers.

Hope this helped and didn't confuse you too much.

Thanks for your info!
This is why I'm hesitating to buy new wheels.
I do not want to lower my car.
Right now I have 17", and I think the wheel gap is acceptable.

Here you go. This is my Winter setup (Powdercoated 166's with Blizzak LM-22's). These pictures were taken last year around Thanksgiving. This is a dark, metallic graphite color. It's not black. Come to think of it, if Ed did this to some 166's against AW, it might not look so bad. I still prefer the 167's or the VB3's though.

Hope this helps...and confuses things even more.

I hate to say it Ed, but most are not going to agree.

Once you put a different set of wheels on there, you're going to notice it even more. But hey, just look at it this way... We'll make you spend all your hard earned money on your car and before you know it, you'll have dumped thousands into it and have one of the nicest cars on the block!

This is a bit weird...

Ed - Did you see this new thread?

http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=81443&hl=

These are the wheels you want on a NON-Sport E60 that just got lowered. Take a look at the before and after pix. Ha!!!
