Intermittent climate controls and overheat error with norm temps, HELP PLEASE!!
Hello! Hoping someone here can help me out with my current issue. I recently installed a new battery and alternator, this took care of the issues I was having prior to installation and cleared all codes and error messages I was having previously. However it left me with two new issues!
I am having issues with my climate controls, they turn on and off at random times. When the controls are on and getting power, everything functions perfectly, heat and AC no problems with complete functionality. However, randomly the whole main control unit will shut down and the fan will just blow out warm air with intensity related to how the settings were set in the iDrive. I just moved down to Florida and it's a real pain when the weather is hot!
Has anybody had similar issues? I'm probably looking at an electrical issue, hoping it's not too serious because like I said the heat/AC work great so long as the control unit is on. It's completely shutting down, say the headlights are on and all of the control lighting is on in the car when the unit shuts off all the back lighting goes off with it. I'll know when it comes back on because it will randomly light up and my previous climate settings will start to function, it always turns back on with the same settings as when it shut down.
Second, I am getting both an Engine Overheating then subsequently Engine Overheated messages on the iDrive. BUT I monitored engine temp in hidden display and it's running at completely normal temperatures and cooling system is functioning properly. The warnings will happen one after the other, the Overheated warning will cause me to lose ability to accelerate and forces the car to slow down to a crawl. Since I know after monitoring temp on multiple test runs that engine is not in fact overheating and is cooling properly, I just wait and usually after a minute it will go away and I can continue driving as normal. This also happens randomly and usually once every time I drive the car. This I'm assuming is a bad sensor of some sort, or another electrical issue somewhere. Not as important as the climate controls because I can deal with this as I know the car isn't overheating, but down here in Florida, I AM OVERHEATING LOL!!!
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR ANY RESPONSES
