I have noticed that the Auburn interior has black doorcaps. On the e39 there was an option to order black doorcaps, with the beige interior. Do you think that option
is available now in the states on an E60? Has anyone heard of this?

Vinman,

If you are reffering to the plastic interior door casing when you say door caps then no, there is no option to have a black top. The door casings on the E60 are a single moulding, unlike the E39 which had an alternate top section which was a different colour. The whole door panel in an auburn interior is black with an auburn leather covered door card insert in the middle section. Beige interiors have full beige door panels and inserts as do grey interiors. I believe auburn is the only two tone option you can have in the states. In Europe we can also have amethyst which is also two toned with black.

If your talking about what I think you are, then if you go for BMW INDIVIDUAL, then you can.

Wow, thanks guys! Yes I understand now. I see how the leather insert works. I like the 2 tone interior- and I was wondering if it was possible with the grey leather. Oh, well! Let's wait and see if any changes are made for the '06 model!

There is no BMW Individual option for the US but if you go to BMW Individual you can see how a two tone grey with black looks using the visualiser.

The new E90 has two new two tone interiors in Europe - Lemon and Terra - which both have the black door panels/dash/carpets etc so maybe BMW will offer more colours when they do a midlife model year refresh on the E60 around 2006.
