Thumbs up

last sunday while headed south on I-95, cruising at about 90 mph, the speedometer and tachometer suddenly dropped to ZERO, all other info on instrument panel blacked out! car felt normal however though. checked i-drive for any system messages, all systems checked ok. drove for another few miles until i was at the potomac rest area. shut off car, restarted and everything was fine again. i have about 7500 miles and have only experienced this once. not sure what caused the glitch. drove another 3 hours after that to get home, never happened again. spoke to dealer the following day and was told to bring it in next time it happens again, since the computer has resetted itself already and will probably indicate a no fault since everything's working fine.

I've never heard about that before. It seems to be a minor thing and shouldn't come back - hopefully...

Unfortunately, since every single system on the car is computer controlled, sometimes you have to reboot by shutting the car down and restarting. Hopefully, BMW will iron out those kinks in time, because it's slightly disconcerting, to put it mildly.

Yup, I had that. i think it is a problem in conjunction with a smelly airconditionin. The smell makes the dials faint. <_<

It only happened once though.

Maybe we can charge our speeding tickets to BMW?

Similar thing happened to me. Was driving along and ONLY the Speedometer and Tachometer dials and the lighting for that area went out and stayed out. All ofther lighting in the car remained on. This happened at about midnight so I could no longer see how fast I was going at all. I tried playing around with the lighting intensity dial but that did not help, just changed all of the other lighting that was working. After shutting the car down and waiting about 5 mins it worked again and has never repeated itself.

FLOWERFRED - I do not have the "stinky ac" problem.
