I sounds like they gave you a substantial discount off their advertised price of $12.95 month (Sirius) or $16.99 ( Sirius + the best of XM ) Sirius website

When you said Sirius XM did you mean your 04 Satellite tuner is able to pick up the Sirius and the best of XM channels?

Waste of money. I have the Sirius radio and got rid of the subscription as soon as the free 1 yr. expired. Forget listening to it in summer and if you do a lot of city or suburban driving. The signal cuts off whenever you drive under trees with leaves on them.

Sirius and Sirius XM are still two separate entities when it comes to pricing. The $150/yr. for Sirius is what I was quoted. When I mentioned that my buddy has Sirius XM for about $70/yr., they told me that the price structure is still different. I think they're still trying to milk Howard Stern.

I agree 1,000,000% I have AUX. Although the sound is not quite as full as CD, I listen to Pandora radio on my iPhone and it has as much, if not more, variety as Sirius and it does not cut off at all, while Sirius loses its signal quite a bit when driving under trees or under overpasses.

I wasn't aware of the different pricing structure between the two. My renewal is on the MDX which uses the original XM radio. I don't have satelite installed in the E60. Sorry for the confusion.

I have tried a few times to activate the best of XM on the Sirius Sat receiver that came in my 01/04 545 but am told the unit does not have enough memory to handle the extra XM channels.

get the ipod interface for the car it is well worth the price and you will be very happy with the sound quality.the unit i bought at bavarian auto for $315 no tax and i had an independent bmw technician do the programming for me he charged me $300.it is time consuming to program but when it is done you will be very impressed and happy! trust me on this!

$1000 sounds about right. My car is prewired for sat radio but the unit itself is $500+ add install and programming to that it will be around a grand. also i found out if you get it installed elsewhere you would still need to visit the dealer to ge it to program or it won't work.

I had an 07 525i and always wanted to Sirus module... I think they had quoted me around $500 back in 2006 (when I got the car), but I was leasing and didn't want to pay for that out of pocket when I would be returning the car. I finally did get Sirius on my current car (09 535i) and I love it. In fact, I just renewed it for ~ $75 for the year (call to cancel and they will offer you this price).

If you can get the module installed for ~ $500 get it... Otherwise you would be better off getting the iPod connector and using your iPhone (assuming you have one) to listen to Internet Radio using either Pandora or AOL radio.

I have the XM skydock which I bought for a little over $100 and listen to it on my ipod. It comes in through the stereo and I can listen to the songs on my ipod as well. All I pay for is a subscription for $12 a month.

I can't bring myself to pay for radio for some strange reason...maybe oneday, but for now, iPod with 3000+ songs does it for me...

does your car have a CD changer (or pre-wired for one, there is a panel in the back of the glove box to remove to check this out) and play mp3 cd's? If the answer is yes to both of these, you can buy the ipod integration kit and intall it yourself in about 10 minutes. I can't remember what I paid for my ipod integration kit, I think it was around $300.
