You guys are really hilarious 90 posts and not one shred of hard fact, only your subjective opinions
Of course there will be different opinions regarding different engines, why do you think BMW have both
options to choose from?
Depending on the skill of the driver and prior experience, some of us will love the 6er more than the V8s
and the other way around and who would say no to a Bugatti Veyron with a W16 engine (V8+V8)?

This comparison can never be decided by facts because it is so subjective and based on feelings and pride of ownership. So, people might try but will just go around and around.

To me, it was well worth the money. Especially when you try to equip both cars the same and the difference shrunk to about 4000 dollars which was well worth the V8 for me.

THe extra weight of the 535s is from the engine alone. First of all you have a couple turbos and all corresponding hardware with that.

Most of all however it uses the M54 engine for the most part as the base engine to turbo. The m54 was much heavier (ok not much but relatively a lot) compared to the newest n52 which is a more technoologically advanced, lighter engine but not hardy enough to hold up to turboing bmw probably thought since they wanted less maintence. So they took a stronger block from the heavier m54 engine which was in the old 525/530 in 05-06 and turboed it. That is the 200 pounds in weight or so difference between the 530/528 and 535

MiamiPhil asked for hard fact so I gave him hard fact...
I think enough has been said in this thread already since we are purely talking about subjective opinions
there will be no winner since everyone are entitled to their own opinion

Learn some physics people . Will chime in one more time. 200-500 pounds lighter weight which is what the current I6s have over the 550 means less mass to move in straights and turns which equals easier time handling. Nuff said

I think you need to learn physics: 200 vs 500 is a huge difference. On top, the 50/50 weight distribution does not put all the weight on the front wheels. This ls also completely different from having 2 or 3 additional people sitting in the car which will have the same affect on a 550i or 535. Nuff said!
