Thanks for all the welcomes guys !

Well I contacted my BMW dealer yesterday and they have never heard of a 550i...........see how sheltered we are down here !!!

Just to show you what I mean We have only just started watching the third series of Trumpy's " Apprentice" and the USA knew the winner of Outback Jack weeks before us.

Oh well I will just have to keep glued to this forum and relay this on to my BMW dealer...................

A simple example:
BMW Australia (& UK) was one of the first to release the MSports package for the E60.
The US still does not have it & is definitely not first in line when it comes to BMW, just look at the number of frustrated Americans on the board. To them BMW NA is like a 4 letter word.

I am not so sure I want to rag on BMWNA. OK, so some of your cannot get an M sport package and some want a 550 two months ago and some want BMW individual. But we get our E60s ant excellent prices. There are threads here that demonstrate that a 545 is 20% more in other countries. Some due to tariffs, but mostly because the price that BMWNA can get is far lower.

Yesterday I went to look at the new CLS500 for my mother. Base car $64,900. Without Xenons, Moon roof, CD change. premium audio. The CLS500 equipped like my 545i (see my sig below) would cost $78K. Either the CLS is way overpriced or the 545i is a great deal. Thank you BMWNA

bmw uk has some info on the new 750i engine. Looks like a second off the 0-60 time. Not sure at this point if its worth the wait in a 550i version. Maybe if it is combined with something else, better suspension, steering etc or all wheel drive. My 545i is great all around and the engine is wonderful. I think it will be hard to justify the wait without more info.I have looked long and hard over the internet and have not found any info on the new 5 liter engine. I will be looking at the new 3 er here in Stuttgart maybe on Monday if it is there. I saw a sign for it yesterday. I think we should get it here first if and when it comes out. Cant wait to sit in the new M5. Again the 545 and 6 speed Automatic is a great choice and has many people over despite the new look. But the new suspension and steering have a lot to due with the over all total package of the car.

Those are only two reasons that got me hooked on this car. No other manufacturer I test drove could come close to the "handling" aspect in a big 4-door car.
