Are these cars designed /sturdy enough to last upto 200,000 miles? I'm not sure if BMW offers warranty after 100,000 miles.
My '06 525i is fast approaching 50000 miles. I have done 46000+ in 18 months.

The prospect of upgrading to a 535 makes me drool but I highly doubt that it will be a wise investment.

BTW has anyone crossed 100,000 miles in an e60?

I'm at 92K miles and closing in fast...I don't want to keep it much longer. I think these cars are designed to go past 100K but 200K would be impressive. I have the extended warranty & maintenance to 100K but I don't they offer anything past that.

Any problems with car after going past 50,000 miles. I have 36,000 miles on mine and I am contemplating on getting extended warranty. I haven't had much problems yet but just wanted to see if its worth getting.

I think the extended "Maintenance" program is more important than the extended Warranty program.

My last e39 did 267,000 miles. The engines in all bmws are bullet proof. Im at 73,000 and do 1000 per week. The e60 is softer than the e39 but 100,000 miles plus no problem. The problem as i see it is with all the computer modules and electronics.
On autotrader there are lots with 100,000+ and still making really good money.

My problem with them is that under warranty in just 7 weeks the dealer has done more than ?3000 worth of work. So that is a worry.

Someone can correct me here that according to California Law, any emission related is cover under warranty up to 7years/80Kmiles(?) whichever comes first.

As for extended maintenance it just cover oil change, windshield wiper, brake pad/rotor replacement while extended warranty cover most of bumper-to-bumper warranty but not cover maintenance.
Due to fully loaded with electronic module and programming issues on E60, extended warranty is highly recommended because finding an independent shop with BMW SSS and Diagnosis System is super rare.

I am not suprisd if e60's engin can last over 200,000 miles, usually the problem areas are from electrical device.

I think Sam530 has good chance to reach 200,000 miles on his e60, because he will reach there in short period of time
