My Ride: 2004 BMW 545I INCREASED EMISSIONS
Default Increase EMISSIONS

I have a BMW 2004 545i and I am experiencing codes P2187&89 that are pending when I got heavy traffic they become real codes of increase EMISSIONS any thoughts on what the problem could be

Check for vacuum leaks. I would do a smoke test. It could be a number of things that could be the issue.

1. Do smoke test (this way you can check the whole system for a crack)

2. Check DISA

3. Check MAF

4. Check o2 sensors

5. Check Evaporative Emission Ventilation Solenoid

Many things can cause it and only you know the history of the car. If the hoses have never been replaced or the DISA then I would start there.

There are a lot of how to videos on YouTube that can walk you through a smoke test. The DISA sits under the intake.

You do not have one in your vehicle. It's called a disa valve well at least the one I'm talking about.

If you want to look it up it's called an intake manifold motor (drive)
