OMG! So messed up...give me a traditional one please!!!!
Another trip to the dealer if i had this feature...
Bmw better solve this quickly and without a fuss.
I wonder what car is easier to steal between the traditional laser cut key and comfort access (assuming both work just fine).

In the other forum they have discussed it and tried it on different cars. It seems that this works for cars with and without comfort access...

Ok, just had to try it after reading this.......
And what happened... The car with comfort access started after turning the engine off without the key being near to the car, I couldn't even lock my door because the key was too far away.
Test;
Take the key away from the car and this is what it says with the engine still running.
it says "Remote Control! No engine start"
Then I pushed the stop button to stop the engine... waited a few seconds and started the car without the key.
A small digiphotocam video can be found here > http://www.we-dare.tv/bmw/MOV01243.MPG
Nice bug!

I believe the 1 Series also does it
It looks like nobody at BMW had a clue about this until the first complaints came in from customers.
Hopefully the solution is close since they now know it and are working on it...

It's a feature, not a bug.
That's what the owners manual says though, on cars equiped with comfort access it's possible to start the engine within 10 seconds after turning it off without a key being near the car.
Haven't tried to start it after 10 seconds, will do that tomorrow.

On page 38 of the owner's manual, it says that it is possible to restart the vehicle without a key present for "approximately 10 seconds" after the vehicle is switched off. (I had been trying longer periods of time and wasn't able to duplicate it.) Granted, this is mentioned in the context of Comfort Access: I would imagine that whatever logic enables this functionality for Comfort Access is causing this issue - intentionally or unintentionally - for vehicles with the Start/Stop button, but without Comfort Access. But for vehicles equipped with Comfort Access, BMW is clearly identifying it as a feature.
