Symptoms of any fuel pump failing would be excessive engine cranking times such as cranking for more than minimum 8-10 seconds or not starting at all. There are a lot a factors that the engine control module monitors in order to fire up the engine. You said that the car sat for about a week-that is the 1 st problem. most cars will take a longer time to start due to the fact that the fuel system has bled down in pressure and will take an extra few seconds to re-prime the system with fuel/pressure. 2nd, you said it only happens on the 1st cold start of the day which is normal in cold temperatures because the fuel/air mixture has to be richer than normal-think of it as older vehicles that had either a manual or automatic choke. It took a little longer to start those engines, longer than engines of today thanks to advances in technology. If the engine was having difficulty starting no matter what the temperature or if it occurs several times throughout the day, then I would say there is something worth being concerned about. How many miles on the car? possibly look into changing the air filter and running some fuel system cleaner through. If you are under warranty, maybe for peace of mind, have it checked out. I hope this helps.
