I noticed that the e60 does not have an engine temperature guage. How will I find out if the engine is overheating? Aside from some steam coming out of the hood. Hmmmm.

I believe coolent temp can be called up from the hidden OBC menu(07.00). Do a search in the forum, author is porsche911targa, post is Unless it's a Tonymac, I think I found the most comprehensive hidd.

The engine coolant temp locates in folder 7.01.

Note that you can access the hidden menu while the motor is running too! Just push the odometer button long enough (approx. 10 secs).
edit: At least it works in my 2004 530d.

one of my biggest disappointments with my 545i. i really didn't know anything about the idrive when i bought it and was sure that i could see engine vitals with it. i would much rather have coolant temp and oil pressure than that goofy economy meter.

it would be nice to see the temp creep up so you could get off the road rather than an idiot light that says you're already overheated.

I tried the hidden menu. After it shows the vin number, the display goes back to the fasten seat belt sign. Am I doing something wrong here? Tried to cycle through the by pressing the button to get to display 19 but after a few seconds it would go back to the fasten seat belt sign.
