How about waiting for the 6-speed manual in the M5, AND waiting for the Touring version.

I know it sounds like ruining the sedan by making it a wagon, but the idea of blowing the doors off all those other cars in a station wagon is even sweeter than doing so in a sedan.

Plus it would be a totally useful hauler for a family.? Sports car, elegant sedan, and SUV, all rolled into one!

Would you want a M5, the upcomming M3, or the 550i.? Im trying to think what the next car I'm dreaming of and I have no idea.? Any suggestions on what others would choose and why?

Donv,
While the appearance may look the same, government regulations (e.g. EPA) from country to country will cause carmakers (like the Ferrari 430) to have different engine tunning. Hence, Euro M5 may perform slightly different from a US M5.

The US E60 M5's are exactly the same as the European versions as far as the engine output. The HP specification difference is simply DIN vs SAE horsepower measurement ratings. 507 HP DIN = 500 HP SAE.

...for some real world experiences with the M5 vs. some of the fastest cars in the world, including THE fastest production car, the Koenigsegg CC-R, take a little time and read this link from M5board: http://www.m5board.com/articles.php?id=34

Gustav, the admin of M5board, spent a weekend with the beast and wrote up a very informative article, and invited some friends to race whos cars included:

Koenigsegg CC-R
Lamborghini Gallardo...
RUF CTR... (Yellowbird, except blue)
Porsche 996 Turbo Techart... (PV996TT's)
Porsche 997 Carrera S...
BMW M5 E60...
BMW M5 E39...
Dodge Viper SRT10...
MB E55 AMG
MB E55 T AMG...
MB C32 AMG
Audi RS4 Stage 2...

read up and you'll see just how fast the beast trully is in the real world

Exactly. Some say they have no time to go to all the boards... well, if so, then you should go and read at least that one discussion and watch the videos.

But generally, online among real-world owners and message boards that they have posted videos and clips on, the consensus is: M5 = exotic car fast.

Still... the way it killed the Ferrari 550 Maranello in fifth gear... OMG!!!!

Just watch it...

Link to video (MUST USE WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER CLASSIC TO VIEW)

Remember, it ain't just the 500+horsies... it's the 7-speed uber quick SMG shifter and gearing that contributes to speed.

If money were not the issue than one M5 and one M3 ....... and one F430 challenge, one Superamerica (now I have 2 Ferraris than I could get the Enzo ), one 760Li, one Rolls Royce Phantom, one Maybach 62, one M6, one CLK DTM convertible, one 997 GT3, one RS4, one Bentley Continental GT, one Aston Martin Vanquish, one Murcielago Roadster, one Ducati supersport, one Yamaha R1, one CBR1000, one Harley (or get Orange County Choppers to customize one for me) and one indoor garage to put all these cars in.

I will get a M5? .
For some reason, I think M3 is for rich teenagers and early 20s.? Whenever I see an older guy driving a M3, it?s just doesn?t fit.
Ps.? I am not trying to offend anyone!!? It?s my thought, that?s all

Hey I resent that comment. What is wrong with old and fat dude driving a M3?

Hey if you have that much money, I think I would be doing nothing but driving those nice cars all day and trying to figure what I really need. But hack not a bad way to spent your time either.
