Better windshields that don't get 10,000 microchips in them after less than a year of driving.
I think you might be actually wanting better roads I'm at zero microchips after 5 years of this car's life, but then that's on German roads

how about removing the 'learnability' of the transmission so that it doesn't keep going into an economy mode and not causing the performance to be sluggish over time....

and giving us a decent alternator that will keep the battery charged REGARDLESS of the driving habits.... like most other manufacturers...

oh, and on our E70X5, redesign the air system so that you can have the rear vents on without the front sounding like 'Maverick' on a catapult (TOP GUN)...

Cheers

+1 on improved volt/amp/ohm management.

Would like a door lock/unlock switch on drive side door.

I imagine it was a deliberate design decision to place it in the middle as an anti-theft measure. Keep that switch as far out of reach as possible (right in the middle of the car).

Imagine you're at traffic lights and you've got the doors locked but your driver window fully down. If the switch was on the door, then someone on foot could reach in, press the button and then his 3 buddies can jump in and demand you be their getaway driver. Sure, they could do that with a gun anyway, but they're just trying to not make things easier for a would-be criminal.

No question......the sqeaks & rattles are absolutely crazy in a $60K+ car. The reliability is becoming an issue too. I'm kinda expecting my high pressure fuel pump to die any day now...I wouldn't take this car on a long trip in it's current state...and it's less than two years old...that's a sad testimony.

As a side note......I've had only BMWs since 1990...I really think this is my last one. Mainly because of the issues above. The quality has really diminished over the years..and seems to be going downhill.

I would say quit making friggin EVERYTHING optional, how about including cool options (like bluetooth, iPod adapter, and CD changer - why can most have only one or the other?) for the price?
Making everything optional is just how German automakers sell their cars.

Maybe that's a good explanation, but I don't buy stuff based on what is inconvenient for some potential crook. I buy stuff based on what is convenient for me.

BTW, my new Mini also has the door lock switch in the center of the dash.

Maybe, but they need to maintain competitiveness and the fact that MUCH lesser cars offer more "luxury" item standard is and should be depressing to all of us. If Kia, Hyundai, Subaru, Toyota, Nissan, and Honda can make even some of their cheapest cars with an iPod adapter maybe, just maybe, a $60+K BMW ought to have it as well, right?
