idrive issues

Hi All,
Just had my 5 oil service by a local independent specialist. Whilst they had the car I had a call from them stating they couldn't reset my idrive. Do you guys know why this would occur? Also (I only had 2 min to look at it) I noticed when I had the car back that my service screen is now showing completely blank?!
Is it possible that they have screwed up my idrive? I check the OBC function and that appeared ok......I tried the reset method thats detailed on the forum i get the triangle light but when i press the button it quickly go back to the date/time/temp screen :-(
