Hey There Guys!
Would appreciate some help here, have a 530d M Sport, 55 Reg.
Only a few days ago did the iDrive Literally died on me, seems to be a common issue, at first random reboots, had someone take a look at it, replaced one of the fuses as a precautionary measure, iDrive seemed ok for a day, however the random reboots started again and now the whole things dead, wont boot, no BMW Screen, nada, the Reset procedures a no go too. No Fuses Blown, and BMW are charging a fortune just to run a diagnostic totally around £400-500, and that's just to figure out what the problem is!
After doing a bit of research, we're led to believe its either the CCC or MPM? And that the Micro Power Module may possibly be blown out as others have experienced, trouble is, we cant find it! We've looked in the spare wheel trunk and it's nowhere to be found? Could anyone please advise on the location of the MPM as the mechanic cant seem to find it either.
Also any advice or opinion on whats causing the iDrive to Fail would be much appreciated!
Thanks

What do you see in the spare tire wheel well? Do you see any electronic modules at all in there? Can you post some pictures of what it looks like in the well? What year is your car?

Hey There Guys,
Thanks for the reply guys, 545felix, it's date is October 2005. So according to you this doesn't have a MPM? In that case it could the CCC which is causing the iDrive failure?
There is some electronics in the well, what seems to be the parking sensor Module however Rudy, no sign of the MPM, which probably means there isnt one based on what 545Felix said.
Pictures are below for Reference purposes, thanks!

As 545felix said, after 9/05, the MPM was eliminated from the spare wheel well. The functionality of the MPM was integrated into the Body Gatway Module (KGM) which, I believe is located in the area above the glove box.
The following document will give you an overview of all the power-related modules, etc. of the E60:

Thanks for the prompt response Rudy. Will have a look into it, also, if you dont mind, any suggestions of what could be causing the iDrive to fail? As BMW are charging £400 just to hook upto to their new machine and run a diagnostic!
Thanks again

It's impossible for me to say what could be wrong with your car -- even if I had access to it. There may be other, more hands-on members here who can chime in but the only thing I can say is that it seems kind of high to charge so much just to run a diagnostic check.
