My Ride: 535D Tourer - Pre LCI
Hi chaps, I've recently bought a tourer, but have this generic problem associated with all cars, so i thought it best to post here.
I bought the car a week ago with idrive issues thinking i could fix it, upon researching i found the usual boot module isse which i confirmed upon picking the car up (at a big discount)
Ok, so far i've replaced the power module in the boot well, just put in another CCC unit, also checked the fuses and noticed '35' navigation was missing. I'm still getting nothing on the CCC, could it just be coding that im missing - I had thought that id get limited functionality until it was coded, but theres nothing at all, no lights or anything
what am i missing

My Ride: 2008 550I LOADED, all options except HUD and NV
Yes, you have to get the CC unit coded for your car's VIN #. I had to do the same thing when I replaced my CCC and TCU (bluetooth module). They have to be coded for your car or they will not work. Good luck
BTW, most good independent service shops can do this, DO NOT pay dealer prices

I think it should light up, it may be a bad unit. When I got mine replaced it lit up once installed but just showed the BMW logo home screen until the programming was done, they then restarted the car and everything was working properly. Did you install it or did someone else? Did you/they remember to disconnect the negative battery cable before installing? If it was installed properly with the proper procedures then it could be a bad unit. Also, check to make sure there are no cables dangling inside the dashboard. As I recall there is a big plug that connects the CCC all the other modules, then there is another for the antenna (aerial) and another for power. Maybe it is just missing a connection?

My Ride: 535D Tourer - Pre LCI
Update: the car is going into my local specialist on Tuesday.
I had the car in my dealers yesterday and a service chap mentioned that all the warning lights on my dash are down to a low battery which i ran down last week whilst working on the car - its been fine since.
Is it worth taking the battery off to charge before it goes to the specialist? My car has been used every day this week to and from work (10 miles each way) - wondered if this could be a reason the iDrive isn't working too?
