In terms of drivability, I felt like it enhanced the 1-2 shift immediately. After several months, I cannot comment due to familiarity.

If you have a BMW manual, it begs for a SSK. So, if your gonna install a SSK, it makes perfect sense to do them both since a lot of work is duplicated. Now it becomes an easier task. The most time consuming part was bleeding the clutch lines.

One big hint. Make a note of which fasteners come from which holes when you remove the underside belly pans. They are different threads which could make it a hassle to button back up.

I would recommend both the SSk and CDV.

Thanks for the input....How do you like the Rogue SSK? I've had B&M on a previous vehicle and didn't like it one bit. Took it off after 1 week. It had terrible shifting characteristics until the tranny was warmed up and I would also get locked out of certain gears at any given moment.

It all comes down to personal choice. My last 5 cars have all been manual. I buy manual because I enjoying a manual.

Will an auto shift faster, sure. Will an auto allow you to drink coffee a bit easier, sure. Will an auto be more comfy in bumper to bumper traffic, sure. Will an auto ever give the driving experience of a manual, NEVER.

If you enjoy rowing your own gears, get a manual. Don't worry about resale or what others may think.

+1 on the SSk and CDV

The Rogue Shifter with the WSR works flawlessly. It does require a bit more shift effort compared to the buttery soft stock shifter but in no way is it an issue. The mechanical "snik snik" sound and feel of the rogue is very solid. When you compare the weight of the stock vs the rogue shifter it is amazing. The stock shifter feels like plastic compared to the rogue. I also considered the UUC shifter but their DSSR was not available at the time and it costs more money. I am completely satisfied with the Rogue.

best of luck

It seems that very few would get a manual transmission on a 5 series but I did it anyways. It just seems that I would get bored with an automatic 535i. I have always driven manual and when I drive automatic, I get sleepy. AM I CRAZY??
I enjoyed my 540 and M5 manual much more than my 550 auto. Seems like a BMW is meant to be a six speed. However, when in city traffic, the auto is very user friendly.

Probably the other way around. Ignore the published specs, in most cases the automatic will be a bit quicker than the manual. Look at the 545 straight line thread for evidence, the fastest times were all achieved with the step (plus fastest magazine test on the 545 was with the auto).

Not much, if any, with the new sports auto.

on the 335i, the manual seems to be quicker. Why is it not the same for the 535i?
