It comes down to a personal choice. I have a stick BMW and an auto. In "open" drive the stick is great. In heavy traffic I love the auto.
In any case enjoy your car and don't think you've made the wrong choice unless 99.9% you drive down town Manhattan.

What do you mean get a clutch delay valve? I have a 2004 545i manual and I attribute some strange behaviors to the clutch delay valve. Is there an upgrade? Also these cars have very large dual mass flywheels and big trannys so they just don't shift the way a lighter smaller car would. I need to have the dealer look at my car because engaging the clutch at parking lot speeds makes a vibration noise that feels like the engine just broke a mount and fell out. I find myself doing things to baby the syncros all the time like double clutching all my downshifts to keep things smooth. It does not feel right to me and makes lots of clunking noises in parking lots. I have to get the dealer to look at it.

Although I had 2 prior BMWs which I loved, this time around I gave some thought to a Lexus GS, MB E and Audi A6. It was my ability to get the 5 in a stick, that nobody else could offer, which made the E60 a no brainer for me. There are so many fantastic things about my E60, but my favorite thing is that it is a 6M. Enjoy!

if u have this auto dont you have this new flippers behind ur steering wheel so u can choose to auto drive or semi manual shift?
i am thinking of buying my next car automatic with these flippers. i dont enjoy manual in the 5 series the pedals are not inthe same length. i am 6.2(185cm) and my feet is not comfortable(strange sort of 80 degrees angle between feet and leg) onthe gas pedal gives me cramp. canadjust the chair but then i cant reach the clutch pedal. and then if ur in heavy traffic well personally i dontthinkit is such a big thing the clutch is very light. as well as the gas pedal. i liek these flippers or is it only available in the new m5?

I was wondering if anybody with the CDV installed on a 6spd. could chime-in on how well they liked it or not. I know it's a super cheap mod, but wondering if going through the trouble of getting it installed would be a complete waste of time and effort or vice versa.

If you have a BMW manual, it begs for a SSK. So, if your gonna install a SSK, it makes perfect sense to do them both since a lot of work is duplicated. Now it becomes an easier task. The most time consuming part was bleeding the clutch lines.
One big hint. Make a note of which fasteners come from which holes when you remove the underside belly pans. They are different threads which could make it a hassle to button back up.
I would recommend both the SSk and CDV.
