I just love my 535d's performance.

The 535D strikes a great balance between performance and economy no doubt about it.
I decided on a 530i in the end however as I didnt want the diesel noise (yes I know its not bad with BMW diesels) and overall I preferred it over the 530D at the same price. The 535D is a different beast altogether but it is nearly ?5k more than the 530i.
If MPG didnt matter and it was purely a performance thing then maybe the 540i would be a better choice given it is the same price as a 535D ? You get the added benefit of an smooth 8 cylinder engine which cant be a bad thing.
