And you could go after the dealership easily. Welcome to America.

BMW would never be liable for that.

As a driver, you are responsible for the equipment on the car operating.

If you went to the dealer to get service, and they replaced your taillamps....? but didn't do it right, so they didn't operate....?? and a cop pulled you over that night for no taillights...?? you'd get the ticket, not BMW.? And good luck trying to fight that one.

Apparently you've not followed legal cases in Alabama, Louisiana and other southern states. Yes, you and I know that we are responsible for our lights working properly, as in no bulbs are burned out. But I'm afraid DXXXi is not far off base here. If the car is built with a system designed to turn on your lights when it starts to get dark, it had better do just that. I could easily see case where an accident took place at dusk and the auto lights had not yet come on, contributing to the accident. I'm no legal scholar, but there are plenty of cases where liability is not a black and white issue and the jury may determine that driver A was 40% at fault, driver B was 30% at fault and BMW was 30% at fault because the auto headlights did not come on early enough. And these same jurors then look at the deep pockets of BMW and the insurance companies involved, awarding BIG cash judgements. Happens a lot down here.

Have you not heard of the woman who was driving with the cup of hot McDonalds coffee between her legs, despite the warnings all over the cup, not to mention the common sense of not putting said cup of VERY hot coffee between your legs. Of course the jury awarded this lady something like $10 because McDonald's makes their coffee too hot, not because she was the dumbf*&k who put the cup between her legs.

God bless America!

ks, you're absolutely right -- except for one small detail: McDonald's didn't start putting warning labels on the coffee cups until after the lady was burned...

It's like the warnings on the instruction page of some clothing irons: "Do not iron clothing while it's being worn!"

To the best of my knowledge, all the complaints are that the lights are on during the day. I have yet to see a post on this board that complains that they do NOT turn on in the dark.

I'm sure you can get the sensitivity adjusted at the dealer - controlled via software

Yes, I'll do that on my next trip to the dealer, although my expectations are not high, as I remember to have read some other member post saying the sensitivity adjustment was of no great help.

Just remember you have to have them set to normal. i.e. less sensitive. This makes little sense to me but that's what has posted here several times.

I want to choose the angels while it's not too dark then add the headlights when needed...

I'm doing the same Rudy.
I turn the angel lights on, and when it gets dark I put it on auto.
If I am in a hurry or if it's just a short trip, or if I'm simply not in the mood, I leave it on auto and don't care when they come on.
