Thanks,
Yes, it appears to be CCC related as I don't have anything working, no parking sensors, no noise at all from speakers, can't eject CD cartridge and it did first happen when heat was highest level, so my next question would be if anyone knows what component is subject to failure when overheating. Certainly it must be near where fan is mounted from my experience in electronics, so does anyone have any idea which component is must likely culprit.
Thanks again,

when I fitted the AUX cable it looked like the fan wasn't blowing on anything particular, rather it was guided upwards into the CCC. It's a doddle to remove, plenty of videos on youtube (search for E60 aux), takes 20 mins.

Checking all fuses with meter proved all were good, but when I checked for 12VDC at M-ASK, nothing, I would suspect the fan should work even if iDrive did not, so something appears to be bad before M-ASK since it is not getting power at plug. Next to check is MPM in trunk as I have learned. Pulled it out, no water issues are visible which is main reason these short out and burn out, opened up to inspect PC, but nothing is servicable other than relays, so will poke around a bit more and put heat and then cold to board to see if anything changes.
With so many problems, I am surprised more haven't explored diagnosing it down to PC component, did find one thread on repair on CCC units, so I wonder if anyone repairs MPM modules, sure is crazy to spend $200. on what is a one small PC board in plastic box.
Thanks,
