I-Drive question, please help
Well today I got into my car and the I-Drive screen just said BMW and did nothing else. It went back a couple times while driving but nothing. The parking sensors still work but no display and the sterio does not work. Has anyone had this happen to them? Is there a reset of anything? 05 545I

Never seem that. But I saw something strange yesteday. Went inside my 6months old cutie started it and the on the dashboard display "SOS failure" I tried to use my bt phone and it was telling me "Mobile Phone not installed..and to call the dealer (neat part it was showing my dealer PN.)
I ignored it, went to grab my mom an LCD display for mothers' day. Came back and everything was working like a charm. (I know i dont need to give so much details)

My Ride: Arrived 3 June 2005: 2005 545i - Orient Blue, Black interior, Sport, Steptronic, Cold Weather, NAV, Sirius, Logic7, Comfort Seats, Sunshades. What a glorious ride!
I have had the nonresponsive I-drive once or twice. My solution has been to shut off the car and restart it. This worked. It seems to me a lot like the need to shut down the laser printer when it freezes up.

Happened to me, just as you described last December. Reset did not work, totally dead.
New CIC was installled, including software upgrade, but I was totally without all I drive related electronics (all!) for 10 days. Major inconvenience, but no problems since.
Make your appointment ASAP and in the meantime....

I had the exact symptom starting April 30 and lasting until it went in for repairs on May 4.
The SIB 84 08 05 says it could be a CCC or MOST bus issue with a couple of fault codes listed. However, the testing on my car did not reveal a hardare problem and after running the MEASURES PLAN to check status of all modules they simply updated the software to latest.. Picked up car on following day and it is working fine. I need to update my sig with PROGMAN (CIP) version 21.03.
Some observations - some of you may be aware I have been testing large numbers of MP3 files on a DVD (4+G
and most recently on a DL-DVD (around 7.5 G
. I have noticed pretty sluggish start up on iDrive (to get to accept screen) IF the MP3 DVD is in the NAV slot compared to when the NAV DVD is in the slot. In fact it took so long yesterday that I thought the problem had returned. I deceided to remove the DL-DVD and stay with the NAV DVD for the remainder of yesterday and today. Boot ups much faster from sleep mode or not, including almost instant (at key position 2) "accept" screen most times. It does suggest some sort of issue with PROGMAN or maybe the DVD drive itself, handling the DVD MP3 disk. I have not noticed this diverence in using MP3 on CDs in the single CD slot and probably not an issue since I do not believe it needs to read at boot time to get iDrive up and running.
