My Ride: 2011 550i; Alpine White/Black Dakota/MSport/SAT/IAS/Driver Assistance/ConveniencePkg/Prem Pkg 2/4 Zone AC/Side-Top Cameras/HUD & Black panel/BMW Apps-iPhone 4 Media/M Decklid spolier /Ventureshiled clear bra/ V1 -Ordered 4/9/11, Production 4/19, Shipped on Martorell 4/23,Arrived Port Hueneme 5/19,Delivered 5/21/11
My I drive failure was diagnosed as a control module failure, and now I am alive again. As you may recall, last week I drive died...BMW screen came up and would not go to lawyer screen and onward. Major hassle getting service appointment, but after getting the ear of service manager I was finally granted an immediate service spot. Dropped car off monday morning and today after 4.5 days my 5 is back home. Great to have all functions back operational!! Seems fine, other than it boots up a litlle slower than before.
I also mentioned that I had considerable road noise from front end, had noticed feathered inner tread of run flats, was aware of TSB on this issue, and now have 4 new Dunlop runflats.
While I was rolling, I also tossed out my creaking door seal issue. Well, No more rattles either now as my sympathetic SA repalced all 4 door seals. Quiet as a pin drop now.
I was driving a Camry loaner in the interim and I cant tell you how good it feels to drive this awesome car again. It may not be perfect, but what a dynamic driving experience.
Oh Yeah, saw a 760IL (big red bow on hood) on the showroom floor..$132K, at the other end a CPO Sapphire Black M5 (1200 miles)...$105K. Can anyone say ..dealer mark up!!
Wishing everyone a wonderful Holiday!!

My Ride: '04 545iS 6 spd, bought new via eBay, 11/05; Blk/Gry, Cold, L7, PDC, BMW Rear seatcover for pets.
First "Bumwa" was a new 1971 2002. High performance 5s since 1987. Beamer motorcycles too, currently on an 07 BMW K1200 GT; also a Moto Guzzi 1000 SP III.
I gather you were able to drive the car, absent the iDrive (what a thought!) Any other peculiarities during this outage? Radio--or whatever mode it was last in--work?
Mine has mini strokes that proclaim "Electronc System Failure." Everything blinks momentarilly, and we drive on. They can't reproduce it, of course. I'm going to have them update it when it's next in for service. Otherwise, it's been fine.
Good luck,
Ray Hull

Software had to be reinstalled, but I forgot to inquire which version. All seems to be the same from when They upgrdaded me when I had the AUX input installed 6 weeks ago.
Took a nice drive today with my 2 sons (age's 6.5 and 3.5) They both fell asleep as I drove and enjoyed sheer driving exhilihration while flipping from Sirius, CD, Ipod.
