I am riding on M5 wheels AND tires... =P
So I ended up buying the set of OEM M5 wheels w/ tires. A lot of people were telling me that I could not use them with the stock tires. I was planning to just buy them and replace (at least) the 2 front tires to 245 series. Well this guy turned out be be really cool. He offered to put on the wheels for me right at his place (which is very nice). So he put them on and the fronts do end up touching the "inner lining" when the wheels are turned all the way to one side. I had a good 30 min. drive home and rubbing was not an issue. I only rub when going fast over a dip or big bump. I may have rubbed 2 times the entire way. I'd say this setup is definitely drivable.
For those unfamiliar the tire sizes are:
255/40/19 front
285/35/19 rear

Are you going for a permanent solution for the rubbing or do you plan on leaving it as is and being cautious on speedbumps etc.?

I will ultimately buy new tires. Especially before I do a drop. I am just stoked that these tires work for now, so I don't have to rush and spend another $1000 on tires. It does look a bit too meaty, but still better then my stocks I think...
Let me wash my car, then Il post some pics.
I SHOULD have taken pix of the guys garage I got them from. This guy had his new 2010 M5, a Ford F350 lifted, a Porsche GT4, and a Corvette. Can you imagine!

Good to see someone else from the 808 on here. =)
You know about the Team BMW HI meet ups? I believe there is a big one on Sept 12th. They are going to do a cruise all around the island. Starting at Salt Lake shopping center and going through Hawaii Kai then around the east side all the way through North Shore. Should be fun. Not many E60's show up. It would be nice to get a few more to go... Il PM you with the thread from another forum.
I wish I could get my drop done first, but not gonna happen. I will have to look like a E60 4x4 with my stock suspension and giant M5 tires. LOL
I will have my sounds done though! Great to have for a long ride.

FYI, I saw a 550i at the BMW dealership the other day with OEM Style 166s with 275/30zr19 on the back and 245/35zr19 on the front.....Michelin Pilot sports. I also read that it is the prefered tire size for the 550i and solves the rubbing issue(rather than the 285, 255). I found this information on a couple other BMW sites (if i find them again i will copy and paste them. the post may be on this site or bimmerforums.....i cant remember). I was researching this for myself because i have a 2006 550i sport that i purchased with 166 replicas 18"s and i am wanting to change them to OEM 166s 19" and was reading about the rubbing issue.
