Last night it rained at my house, almost like a down pour. The bad thing is was that my windows were cracked. The inside of my car is wet. I came outside this morning and there was water all over the seats in my car. I dried them with water and turned the car on to see if everything was alright. The passeneger seat airbag thingy detected a fault. The light was on on the dashboard but the overhead light was off. Now that things have dried out, it seems like the airbag system is working turned the key with me sitting in the seat and not sitting in the seat) by looking at the overhead indicator lights, however the system still reads a fault. has anyoen ever experienced this?

I had a 2004 530i before my current E60 and I had a similar problem with that one, where everytime it rained (and when it rains here in guatemala believe me it RAINS) the rear passenger door would fill up with water. I mean when I stopped i would hear the water moving inside the door. If I didn't let the water out the next day it would sip inside the pass floor and flood.

Woah! You have rain that's able to crack windows? I've heard of big hailstones doing that, but not rain.

You're not the first person to have this happen, so don't feel too badly. Simple mistake. I would try to get a fan on it and really dry it out well. The light should go out. Failing that, it may require a reset.

I left my sunroof open once over night and it poured. Lucky for me everything worked the next day. Now I check that bugger like 3 times before I go inside.

I was once driving near Baden Baden in Germany in my 735 in the mid 1990s. The sun was shining, it was a glorious day, so I hit the sunroof open button (in a way that made it slide open automatically). As it opened we discovered that there was some snow still on my roof. Luckily it all fell into my girlfriends lap. She was livid. I couldn't stop laughing

Doudt so, he's from the Uk, i can understand if he's taking it literally.

It may need a reset but i would check the actual problem before "erase" it from the logs. I take it still reads as airbag fault. Something might have gone faulty. Seems silly but i would check this out if i were you ..
