Yesterday I was driving on an interstate in heavy rain. Several times I felt a slight hydroplane, but one time it was significant. During that time, I noticed the warning light flash (the exclamation point in the triangle thats in the circular arrow). I did not have the DTC button pressed.
According to the manual, I believe this means the DSC disengaged during the hydroplane. Should I have used the DTC? It happened pretty suddenly and I didn't have time to research it on the spot!! I'm thankful I'm here to talk about it.

When that light flashes, that means that DSC is working and intervening on your behalf... ![Thumbsup](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/thumbsup.gif)
(If it's on but not flashing, then either DTC is active or DSC is fully deactivated.)

The car's system was doing its job. it was keeping the car in control pointing straight.
Should you have used DTC? No, how you had it was correct, better and safer. DTC is as I can call it.... a crippled DSC.
DSC on, (default when you start the car) is "Full Safety"; Dynamic Stability Control on.
DTC is only really used if you need to climb a snowy hill and cant because DSC wont allow you to spin your tires. So in order to get the car moving you need some wheel spin initially but you still want some safety feature so you press the DTC button once to activate DTC.
Normally for safety you'll wany full DSC.
