For me the HUD is almost perfect - it just needs the addition of the turn signal blinker.

I can't imagine having another car without it...

I wouldn've gotten HUD if it showed rpms like the M5 version. To me, its not worth it unless it shows rpm, which is the most critical piece of info when I drive.
1. totaly good point here........

2. driving in a city traffic with a need for constant look at the speedo???

3. of course all that have HUD will say it is great.....that is what people always do...... well I guess it is.....a nice gadget.....

4. reason for being it nice is not to get distracted by looking at the gauges???? well funny reason..... than don't drive if the gauges distract you
gauges were part of the car as the engine is since ever since (is this correct english?? )

5. if unlimited budget I would get it..... if limited budget this would the very last option on my list I would consider to buy

BTW I've always dreamed about a car full of optoins like TV, DVD retrofit and cameras but when finaly having some or seeeing some in action I keep discovering that during long higway or the Autobahn trip or even in a thick city traffic.... I keep everything off mostly..... enjoy the sound of the engine.... I need to listen to the RPM's..... feel and hear the car..... enjoy the paddle shifting...... that is real pleasure you can get drivnig a BMW..... for entertainment there is a home theater . maybe a good music sometimes but that is only good on a empty road crusing

I delayed 8 months waiting for HUD in the 6er. Passed on dealers allocation for me 6 times. I wear trifocals and most dashes are hard for me to adjust to after looking forward for awhile. Although I do wish for more features such as gear, RPM and turn signals I could no longer go without. It is more than just a gimmick IMO. Very useful feature. HOwever, if you did not get it you are not depriving yourself of an awesome car regardless.

I love it. Kind of finishes the car's toy list off perfectly.

As already said, it makes Prof Nav so much easier to use/understand.

To HUD! I wanted it but its not offered as a stand alone. YOu have to get NAV... I wish they offerd it as a stand alone that shows MPH and the Tach and other info.
