As I already mentioned, I have HUD on my 2004 car and I think it's the greatest. Today, I drove my first 100 miles or so in my 2008 car with HUD and had to add one more point...

Everyone says HUD is worth it especially with nav. Today, I learned how valuable it is with active cruise control (especially the stop and start version on the LCI.) When you use ACC, especially on non-highway roads, you pretty much always need to know if the car has "locked on" to the vehicle in front of you. If you're not locked on, you may need to apply the brakes yourself to slow down for something like a red light just around a bend. If you're locked on, the car will apply the brakes.

I'm still playing around with it but so far, because of the stop and go feature, I really, really like ACC...

One other (minor) thing is the lane-deviation warning system. The "lock on" indicator for the lane is also displayed in the HUD. It's not as critical as the ACC lock on indicator but it's nice to not have to look down to see if you're locked or not.

Now if they'd only add that gear indicator...
