Hpfp recall- help please
I have a 535i and in my dash is says I have a faulty fuel pump. I took it to the dealership and they told me that my fuel pump has been changed already under the recall and that they won't change it again because I have the new version hpfp already. How true is that?

One thing to double check...you can go to the bmwusa.com web site and put in your VIN and see if it has any open recalls.
I also suppose, it is possible it has been changed, but maybe with another of the defective type.
I suspect you won't know until you pull it out and look at the part number on it.

The dealership is incorrect. BMWNA extended the hpfp warranty for the N54 engine to 10yr/120k miles as part of the class action lawsuit settlement. You should talk to the service manager and/or BMWNA to get it replaced.

First you have to determine for sure its the hpfp. There are several other things in the fuel system that will cause similar symptoms. Just recently my car had a fuel pump msg but it turn it turned out to be the pump inside the tank. Booyaazaa is correct, the HPFP is under an extended warranty so any changes during that period is of no cost to you.

I'm not sure I buy that the HPFP is covered even if it has already been replaced under the warranty. Seems to me that if BMW replaced it with the better part under warranty and this one has no gone out, you may be out of luck. Now, if it was replaced once, but not with the improved part, I would think it is covered.
