you know, i dont know why those n54 owners dont just upgrade to an aftermarket performance fuel pump.
its not that expensive, and it eliminates your headaches all together, no trips to the dealer no nothing.

right but then one risks voiding warranty work. As hpfp symptoms aren't specific to just the hpfp...

You would void warranty to fuel pump related issues. It wouldnt void warranty for other issues.
Personally, if there is a known problem and the dealer is replacing parts that have a known problem, that in itself speaks for their warranty.
The ultimate goal is to grow into your car and let your car wear in properly, without problems, so it will last.
You shouldnt drive your car worrying about the warranty at all times. If the dealer wont replace your pump under warranty, but you know that the pump is a problem and can create bigger problems, then replace it.
You may not have a warranty on that part anymore, but you will know you have a car that doesnt have that problem, while everyone else has that problem, but at least theyre still under warranty...
In any case, if you maintain the car properly, you wont need to use that warranty. Fixing known problems is part of that.

Although I don't have a x35 car, I've been hearing\reading about the HPFP issues enough that it piqued my interest.
What is it that's failing? Is it ripping O rings or something getting clogged or scraped up? Is some port wearing out of round? What is it? Is there a picture of a good part comparing it to a bad part? How do you tell it's bad just by looking at the part?
