Well, received my letter from BMWNA a few weeks ago advising my 2010 535i was under the HPFP recall and to schedule an appt with my local dealer. With my car just a tick over 10k miles and no issues since buying new (May 2010)I was hoping to avoid the whole HPFP saga. I took the car in today and the dealer had it all day. They did end up replacing the HPFP under the recall. Hopefully this newest pump fixes the HPFP issue that I know so many have had.

I received the same recall notice last week. I'm not taking her in yet though. I'll wait until the next oil change before I turn her over.

LOL - if only the latest version of the pump fixes it. I guess we will have to see.

I got mine in May 2010 also, and just went past 9000 miles last week.

That's why I'm in no rush. Mine runs just fine, so why mess with success?!?

Just picked up my car up at the dealership after they replaced three injectors, the low pressure fuel sensor, the high pressure fuel pump, and program update. Car has 13,500 miles. Perfect timing for this service work since I started noticing a choppy idle during start-up in the mornings for the past week.

Car no longer has choppy idle in morning start-ups. Hopefully, this will be my only visit for HPFP-related issues.

You're better off getting your HPFP recall resolved now then later.

You don't want to be on the highway or on the street with your iDrive throwing you messages such as...

ENGINE MALFUNCTION

REDUCED POWER

I had mine changed 15000 miles ago and have had no problems with it. I did have a failure with the old one though. From what i know, not all older styles were defective but most were causing problems. Some seem to never have the failures. I would clearly take the new pump whether or not you have had any problems.
